Widow’s Ministry
The Widow's Ministry was organized to provide mutual support for widowed members of our congregation. Its primary activity consist of monthly sessions which include spiritual and emotional support for one another. All widowed members of the Morning Star congregation are invited and encouraged to attend the meetings and join the ministry.
Evangelism
This ministry will include a prayer ministry, door to door evangelism, street corner preaching and much more. This as with all other ministries requires dedication, training, prayer and commitment.
Young Adults Ministry There is a group of energetic, talented, gifted, yet diverse and mobile group of people that make up a segment of our congregation. These young adults need to be ministered to and also need to minister to others. They range in ages from eighteen to thirty-four. They are students, workers, spouses and military personnel. In most cases, they are struggling to discover their vocations and where they “fit in,” in the local church’s ministry. It is our intent that we gather this group and minister to them in a unique, but Christ-like manner, as we teach the Gospel message.
Drama Ministry The Morning Star Drama Ministry provides a means to communicate "gospel truth". It also provides an environment for spiritual growth for the performers. Drama is another avenue through which the church projects its message. It is an effective tool for use in all areas of the church and its ministries. The drama ministry performs during Black History Month, Easter and Christmas. They also participate in presentations for Mother's Day, Father's Day and youth worship services.
The Drama Ministry presents a dinner theatre in support of the Church Anniversary.
The Speakers' Bureau, "Word Warriors" has been established for both male and female youth. Daphne Smallwood-Smith is the supervisor.
Any member of the church may join the Drama Ministry. Help is needed with props, scenery, costumes, rehearsals and music etc.
Women Ministry The Women’s Auxiliary serves as the vehicle for ministering to women in the church. All women from ages 36 and above are members of the Women’s Auxiliary and have a voice in this ministry. It seeks to accentuate and enhance the programs that the church already has in place. This ministry encourages women to become more actively involved. It also ministers to specific needs of women in the local church.
Men Ministry The Laymen League is a ministry for the men of our church. The primary role of this ministry is to mobilize the men of the church for positive involvement in the comprehensive ministry which is at hand. The laymen League is a very important ministry in the church. For many years the population of our church has been largely composed mostly of women. This ministry will serve as a vehicle for a greater involvement of Christian men in a meaningful role in our local church.
